1st Tourney- 1st win!!!
Wow what a weekend! Great Job boys. 4th place is not the best finish but certainly not the worst either...
All the kids worked hard and had a fun time from what I can tell. Regardless, we learned some things and we are getting better and better all the time. Never give up guys. We know we have big hearts we just have to tap into that energy when we get down...
See most of you Wednesday @ acceleration.

Never Give Up!
Well, Still learning. I think we still are learning a lot about the kids, they are learning a lot about what it takes to be on an "A" team. We all are learning to be more competitive. Regardless, the kids are getting better and better each game. We should all be proud of their accomplishments to date.
Looking forward to the tournament to "open up"... all we need to do is maintain intensity and position, well OK, and pass, shoot, and score... :D We are getting there. My feeling is that both Rogers and SFNB are not slouches at all. We had some chances and we need to make more. Either way, we will get there.
Keep up the good work kids.... and parents! :-)
See you all Wednesday.

What a fun Game!!
Hey folks,
even thought the outcome wasn't quite what we wanted, I thought our guys all played very well. Nothing to hang our heads about. As an aside, I talked to two of the black teams coaches, and both said they couldn't believe how well we were passing, breaking out and putting the pressure on in the second period particularly.... I know we are due to win a game soon. When we all play like a team it will happen.... When we shoot more than say 25 shots on net (our goal for each game is 30) we will have a great chance to win a game.
In the end, the main thing we are doing is learning all season long. I love having the opportunity to work with you (the kids) and of course getting to know the parents. We'll make it happen ......... soon!!

Schedule Changes
Please click on the the link on the right side of the blog for our updated D-10 schedule. There have been two changes: The Anoka game and the Champlin game. We are also talking with Paynesville about their tournament January 12-13. I think it is safe to assume we will be playing in it, as they were looking for two teams. If not, I will let you know!
Keep your heads up and keep playing hard boys! The rewards will come!

Miscellaneous rambling after a tough loss
Well folks it seems like we took a little step back on Saturday. We worked on positioning in practice today(Sunday) quite a bit. Hopefully we can make a profound change in the way we play as a team. I have a good feeling about the way the kids are improving their individual skills. Now we just need to start becoming more of a team...
I have to be at a District 10 meeting tomorrow night (Monday Dec 3rd) during our practice time, but I know with the great help we have there are no worries at all. Thanks to all for being so supportive.
Looking forward to our game against the Black team on Wednesday. See you all then.
The videos have been updated to include the quick hands drill as well.... If you have a chance, check it out..
Sometime during the next week I would like to review some video with the kids. Maybe Friday after practice for about a half an hour would be great. I will let you all know.

Acceleration
Great work at Acceleration last night boys. Keep working on your stick handling skills. The videos Coach Eric posted to the web site are excellent drills to work on at home. The better your stick handling skills get, the more fun hockey becomes... You can use tennis balls, golf balls, tape balls, etc. to do these drills at home. Remember to "cup" the puck (use your wrists) on both your forehand and backhand.
Eric - can you post "quick hands" on the web site for their reference?
See you at the rink.
Coach Mike
P.S. The Top Quick Hand times from last night: Coach Eric: 3.35 (2 players were close behind...we'll see if you guys can beat him by the end of the season...but, you'd better work at it...Coach Eric is... ; )

I am told, although have not verified yet, that the appparel order forms are here! We are going to try to do the ordering TONIGHT at practice so we can get our order in as fast as we can. I know this is short notice, but hopefully everyone can make it. We can collect payment at a later date. Thanks!

First game!
Well, a big thanks are in order first of all for Augers hosting our first get-together.
The game: Well, I think there is a lesson learned in all games. Both in losing and in winning. We learned we need to move our feet more and stay in our spots.... No real surprises, but effort will get us there for sure. We'll keep after it and get the kids to push themselves just a bit more. Certainly flashes of the type of game we need to play... we just need it all three periods. Looking forward to Wednesday's practice... See you all there.

Thanks for all the help folks
I realize we were taken off the ice for the photo opp with the Senate Finance Committee bus. But honestly, maybe working with SCSU has advantages both for our team and the association. I appreciate the kids doing a great job and all the help from parents that were there.
Thanks again. Eric

Great Scrimmages folks!!!
Well,
Our first two tests we did fairly well overall. It was impressive to see us face two fairly strong teams as well as we did. Both teams have been practicing for some time. Considering we only had four practices under our belts, we did very well.
I liked our determination and heart. We can use a little work on positioning, passing and the forecheck, which is to be expected this early in our season. Regardless, I think the kids had a great attitude and really seemed to enjoy themselves out there..
Great job to all and thanks again parents for being so supportive...

Apparel Coordinator
The team is looking for an apparel coordintor for the year. It would consist of getting the samples, filling out the order form for the team, following up on the order and collecting payments. I handled it for our team last year, and it is a pretty simple process. If you would like to handle this, please let me know ASAP. I can get you all the info. We would like to get the order in ASAP, so we can get our apparel soon. Either leave a message here or contact us at aauger39@q.com.
Thanks! Andy and Libby Auger
